What does "consignment" mean?

Consigning an item means that you ship the item(s) to us so we may identify, correctly describe & photograph your item for listing at an auction venue (either eBay or our Mail Auction Catalog).  All consigned item(s) are housed in our warehouse until the item(s) are sold at auction.  We act on your behalf in order to sell your item(s).  Consignors pay a commission fee out of the sale price to the seller (AAG Int'l.).  We then remit payment to you after receiving payment from the auction buyer.  A full report is provided to the consignor, that details the realized price of the item and the commission paid to us.

Why would someone consign an item?

There are many reasons that people decide to consign items to our Auction House:  Consignors may not know anything about an item, especially it's historical importance.  They also may not know how to describe and/or photograph an item.  Describing the item is extremely important as there are variations, earlier & later types of the same item, more desirable makers of an item, etc.  Condition is also very important to collectors & buyers and an item must be looked at carefully for old repairs, missing pieces, etc.  Some people just don't have the time & patience that it takes to sell something at online auctions. Items also realize a greater price when sold by a firm who can guarantee that they have examined the items for authenticity.  Individual sellers often have to sell things without a guarantee that they are original.

Procedures to consign to AAG's mail auction catalog:

If you haven't checked it out already, go to the "Catalogue" page to learn about our Militaria Mail Auction Catalogue.

Submit a detailed list to us via e-mail or snail mail.  Also include a reserve price that you would like to place on the item(s).  If you don't have an appraisal and don't know an item's value, we can set a "fair market value" on your behalf.  If you have photos, please include them.  We'll call you upon receipt of the list with further instructions.

Please note the following details in the list:
